Full Professor (2006) from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC) of Instituto Superior T\u00e9cnico (IST), faculty of Engineering from the University of Lisbon. He obtained the PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from IST in 1990. Past vice-president of DEEC\/IST (2003-04), past member of the Board of Directors of Instituto de Telecomunica\u00e7\u00f5es (2009-2024), coordinator of its Wireless Technologies thematic line, and head of the Antennas and Propagation Group. He is a Life Senior Member of the IEEE, and Correspondent Member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences. Teaching chairs are in the fields of Antennas, Microwaves, Radiowave Propagation and Satellite Systems. He was\/is supervisor or co-supervisor of 12 PhD Theses, and neat 50 MSc students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His research work spans millimeter-wave antennas for broadband communication systems, antennas for satellite systems, metamaterials, antennas for the internet of things based on RFID and UWB technology, antennas for body-area applications including medical applications, medical microwave imaging, and radiowave propagation in complex environments. He is the co-inventor of 8 patents, one of them protected worldwide and commercialized. He authored or co-authored one book, 3 book chapters, nearly 100 papers in international Journals, mostly Q1, and 250+ Conference papers. He has nearly 6000 citations and H-index 43 in Google Scholar.
