She is a sociologist and senior researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences, University of Lisbon (ICS-ULisboa). She was part of the pioneering team that introduced Environmental Sociology in Portugal, in research, education, and the connection between academia and society. She was also among the founders of OBSERVA \u2013 Observatory of Environment, Territory, and Society, which she currently leads, coordinating multiple research projects linking social sciences and the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her publications cover topics such as: climate policies and the social dimensions of climate change; values, practices, and social representations of the environment; education for sustainable development; social issues in energy management, including energy poverty; media analysis of environmental and climate change issues; public participation and climate adaptation processes. Some of her recent books include: 50 Anos de Pol\u00edticas Ambientais em Portugal \u2013 Da Confer\u00eancia de Estocolmo \u00e0 Atualidade<\/em> (2023), Porto: Edi\u00e7\u00f5es Afrontamento; Climate Change and Society<\/em> (2022), Ed. Frontiers); II\u00ba Grande Inqu\u00e9rito \u00e0 Sustentabilidade em Portugal<\/em> (2022), with M. Truninger, J Guerra & P. Prista, Lisboa: Imprensa de Ci\u00eancias Sociais. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2016, she received the Ci\u00eancia Viva Media Prize from the Portuguese National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture.
