He holds a degree in Law from the Portuguese Catholic University and is a Guest Lecturer in the Postgraduate Course in Writing Arts at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of NOVA University of Lisbon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2016, he has served as a cultural advisor to the Civil House of the President of the Republic and is a member of the Editorial Board of Imprensa Nacional \u2013 Casa da Moeda (IN-CM). In 2020, he was Deputy Director and Interim Director of the Portuguese Cinematheque \u2013 Museum of Cinema.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a columnist and critic, he has contributed to various publications, including the weekly <em>Expresso<\/em> and the daily newspapers <em>P\u00fablico<\/em> and <em>Di\u00e1rio de Not\u00edcias<\/em>. He oversees the poetry collection of Tinta-da-China publishing house and is co-editor of the Portuguese edition of <em>Granta<\/em> magazine (since 2018).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pedro Mexia has served on the juries of several literary prizes, including the Vasco Gra\u00e7a Moura Prize (IN-CM) and the D. Dinis Prize (Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Casa de Mateus). He has also been a juror for the In\u00eas de Castro Foundation Literary Prize, the Cam\u00f5es Prize, the Oceanos Prize, and awards from the Portuguese Society of Authors and the Portuguese Writers&#8217; Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He has published eight collections of chronicles, including <em>Primeira Pessoa<\/em> (2006), <em>Nada de Melancolia<\/em> (2008), <em>As Vidas dos Outros<\/em> (2010), <em>O Mundo dos Vivos<\/em> (2012), <em>Cinemateca<\/em> (2013), <em>Library<\/em> (2015), <em>L\u00e1 Fora<\/em> (2018, winner of the Grand Prize for Chronicle from the Portuguese Writers\u2019 Association), and <em>Imagens Imaginadas<\/em> (2019).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His five volumes of diaries include <em>Fora do Mundo<\/em> (2004), <em>Prova de Vida<\/em> (2007), <em>Estado Civil<\/em> (2009), <em>Lei Seca<\/em> (2014), and <em>Malparado<\/em> (2017). He has also published seven books of poetry, such as <em>Em Mem\u00f3ria<\/em> (2000), <em>Eliot e Outras Observa\u00e7\u00f5es<\/em> (2003), and <em>Menos por Menos<\/em> (2011), later compiled in <em>Poemas Escolhidos<\/em> (2018). His work has been anthologised in <em>Contratempo \/ Contretemps<\/em> in Brazil (2016) and France (2018).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pedro Mexia was awarded the rank of Officer of the Military Order of Saint James of the Sword (2015) and Commander of the Order of Merit (2022).<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pedro Mexia is a columnist, poet, translator, literary critic, and political commentator.
