Science and Society

One of the aims of the Academy of Sciences of Lisbon is to provide advice based on scientific knowledge, as a fundamental instrument for the qualification and efficiency of public policies.
In this sense, the Academy aims to broaden and enrich this mission, in its capacity as an advisory institution to the sovereign bodies of the Portuguese state in all areas of knowledge, to contribute to society's appropriation of the main science-based themes relevant to public policies and to promote greater convergencer and more intense and regular dialogue, not only between the national scientific community and political decision-makers, but also with similar institutions abroad.
