Historian of Science with research focusing on the history of exact sciences (mathematics, astronomy, cosmography, cartography, etc) in Europe in the early modern period. Research also in the history of scientific books. Chief editor of the multi volume Edition of the Works of Pedro Nunes. More than 100 academic papers and over 30 books as author\/editor. More than 250 invited or Keynote conferences in universities and academic institutions in Portugal, Sapin, France, Belgium, Italy, Germany, England Brazil, Uruguay, China and the United States. Supervision of 14 PhD dissertations.
