He is a retired Full Professor at NOVA School of Business & Economics, NOVA University of Lisbon, and was a Visiting Professor at Stanford University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He served as Dean of the Faculty of Economics at NOVA University of Lisbon and Vice-Rector of the same university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His main areas of interest include economics of uncertainty and information, welfare state economics, particularly in the financing of health, education, and social security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He is a jury member for the Pessoa Prize (since 2002) and the Sustainable Health Prize (since 2011). He has worked as a consultant for various public and private institutions and served on the boards of multiple entities.
