I earned my degree in Meteorology, Oceanography, and Geophysics from the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Lisbon in 2006, followed by a Master\u2019s in Geophysical Sciences in 2007 and a PhD in cold climate processes in 2011. That same year, I joined the research department at the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) in Reading, UK. In 2017, I moved to the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Lisbon \/ Instituto Dom Luiz as a researcher. Since 2020, I have been a researcher at the Portuguese Weather Service (IPMA) in the Earth Observations Unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My research primarily focuses on land surface processes and their significance within Earth system models and meteorological forecasting systems. I have a particular interest in numerical modeling and remote sensing of land surface processes, large-scale hydrology, land surface influences on sub-seasonal to seasonal atmospheric predictability, drought monitoring and forecasting, and the role of land surface in climate projections.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
