His research focuses on Golden Age Spain and, in particular, on Cervantes. He was Professor of Hispanic Studies at the Fran\u00e7ois Rabelais University in Tours and Professor of 16th- and 17th-century Spanish Civilization and Literature at the Sorbonne-Nouvelle University in Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among his published works are: <em>Antonio de Guevara (1480?-1545) et l\u2019Espagne de son temps<\/em> (1976), <em>Otra manera de leer \u2018El Quijote\u2019: historia, tradiciones culturales y literatura<\/em> (1997), and <em>Revisitando las culturas del Siglo de Oro: mentalidades, tradiciones culturales, creaciones paraliterarias y literarias<\/em> (2007).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was awarded the rank of Knight of the <em>Ordre National du M\u00e9rite<\/em> (1997) by the French Government.
