Professor Bing Joe Hwang received his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from National Cheng Kung University in 1987. He is currently the Chair Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech) and serves as the President of the Taiwan Institute of Chemical Engineers (TwIChE). He was the Founder and President of the Electrochemical Society of Taiwan (ECS-Tw). His extensive research portfolio spans various disciplines, including electrochemistry, spectroscopy, interfacial phenomena, materials science, and theoretical chemistry. He has developed both experimental and computational strategies to advance electrochemical energy materials, significantly enhancing our understanding of electrochemical reaction mechanisms and facilitating the discovery of new materials for applications in batteries, fuel cells, and hydrogen production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Professor Hwang boasts an impressive academic record with 550 peer-reviewed publications, 80 issued patents, 43,070 citations, and an H-index of 102. He is the Founder Director of the Sustainable Electrochemical Energy Development Center at Taiwan Tech, an Adjunct Researcher at the National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center, and the Executive Editor of ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering<\/em>. His exceptional contributions to the field have earned him numerous accolades, including being named a Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Researcher (2022-2024) and receiving prestigious honors such as the ISE-Elsevier Prize for Experimental Electrochemistry (2022), the Humboldt Research Award (2020), Academician of Asian Pacific Academy of Materials (2017), and Foreign Member of the Academy of Sciences of Lisbon (2011).
