Profile

Gustavo Cardoso is a full professor of Communication Sciences in the Department of Sociology at Iscte-IUL and a researcher at CIES-Iscte. He directs the PhD in Communication Sciences and the postgraduate courses in Journalism and Political Communication. He coordinates the CIES-Iscte MediaLab, the Communication Observatory (OberCom) and the Portuguese participation in the Iberian Digital Media Observatory (IBERIFIER). At inter-national level, he is a member of the Steering Committee of the Observatory on Information and Democracy and an associate researcher at the Centre d’Analyse et d’Interventions Sociologiques (CADIS). He was awarded the rank of Grand Officer of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator by President Jorge Sampaio.
