Carlos Francisco Moura is an architect who graduated from the National School of Architecture of the University of Brazil in 1960. Now retired, he worked as an architect at Petrobras Distribuidora S.A., and taught and conducted research at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of Brasília, as well as at CBEP – Brazilian Center for Portuguese Studies at the same university (under the direction of Prof. Agostinho da Silva), and at the Federal University of Mato Grosso. He carried out pioneering research based on previously unpublished historical documentation, which resulted in considerable bibliographical production. He was the Library Director of the Royal Portuguese Reading Cabinet. Throughout his educational and cultural activities, he received several distinctions: the Comenda Memória do Legislativo de Mato Grosso (Memory Commendation of the Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso), awarded by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Mato Grosso; titles of Sócio Grande Benemérito (Great Benefactor Member) and Laurel de Gratidão (Laurel of Gratitude), granted by the Royal Portuguese Reading Cabinet. He is a member of the following Portuguese institutions: the Portuguese Academy of History (Academic of number, chair no. 31), the Academy of Marinha (Full Extra-Numerary Academic), and the Academy of Sciences of Lisbon (Corresponding Member). He is also a corresponding member of the Brazilian Historical and Geographical Institute, as well as of 5 other state institutes.
