Schulze, Ernst-Detlef, born 1941, study of forest sciences in Göttingen (Diplom), and botany at UCLA, Los Angeles (MA), dissertation and habilitation at University of Würzburg, associate professor of plant ecology at University of Würzburg and at the Technical University of Munich. 1975 chair of plant ecology at University of Bayreuth. 1997 Founding Director of the Max Planck Institute of Biogeochemistry and professor of plant ecology at the University of Jena, Thuringia. Since 2008 Emeritus of the Max Planck Society. Since 2004 I am managing my own forests. Editor of Ecological Studies, Springer. Textbook: Plant Ecology, Springer.  Honors: Member of the IPCC consortium honored by the Nobel Peace Prize, Federal Environment Prize of Germany, Bavarian Environment Medal, Vernadzky Medal of the EGU, Haeckel Medal of the European Ecological Society, Thuringian Forestry Medal. In the field of Plant Science and Agronomy, the Web of Science lists me on position 3 of a global citation survey of 2025.
