Ettore Finazzi-Agrò is Emeritus Professor of Portuguese and Brazilian Literature at Sapienza University of Rome. After taking an interest in medieval Galician-Portuguese poetry, organizing the critical edition of the poems of two troubadours (Johan Mendiz de Briteyros and Roy Gomes de Briteyros), he published a book on Portuguese sixteenth-century novels and several essays on Camonian epic. In the course of his long research activity he has published books on Fernando Pessoa, Clarice Lispector and João Guimarães Rosa and several articles on Manuel Bandeira and Mário de Andrade, as well as more than 200 essays on other important authors and subjects in the Lusophone area. In 2013, he published a book entitled Entretempos. Mapeando a história da cultura brasileira (Unesp). He has been a visiting professor at several Portuguese and Brazilian universities and was awarded an honorary doctorate by the State University of Campinas in 2014. Since 2023 he has been a corresponding member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters and since 2024 of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences.
