José Paulo Cavalcanti Filho is a lawyer in Recife. Consultant to the World Bank and UNESCO. President of CADE (equivalent in Portugal to the Competition Authority; in the United States, it would be the Federal Trade Commission), of EBN (equivalent in Portugal to RTP2) and of the Social Communication Council of the National Congress (embryo, in Brazil, of the US Federal Communication Commission). One of the 6 members of the National Truth Commission (much broader and with greater objectives than Portugal’s Black Book Commission). Minister of Justice. Chair 39 of the Brazilian Academy of Letters.

Among dozens of books, he wrote Fernando Pessoa, a quasi-autobiography.
