Masashi Hayashida has a master’s degree from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (1983) and was Professor at Osaka University of Foreign Studies& CO Design Center in Osaka University, 1986-2020.

He received awards and distinctions, among which: Honorary Committee of the President of Portugal Award for Cultural Merit (Former President of the Order of Knights, equivalent to a doctorate in science) in 2010, Embassy of Portugal “Rodriguez Visitor Award” (12th Award), 2002, and Distinguished Service Award for the Promotion of Portuguese Language and Cultural Research (Joint Award), 2000.
