RAQUEL Maria Carvalho NAVEIRA was born in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, on September 23, 1957. She graduated in Law and Letters from the Dom Bosco Catholic University (UCDB). She holds a Master’s degree in Communication and Literature from Mackenzie Presbyterian University in São Paulo. She taught Brazilian, Latin and Portuguese Literature at the Dom Bosco Catholic University (UCDB), where she retired. He lived in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, where he taught at Santa Úrsula University (RJ) and Anchieta College (SP). He also taught post-graduate courses at the Nove de Julho University (UNINOVE) and at ANHEMBI-MORUMBI in São Paulo. He has given lectures and courses at various cultural institutions such as Casa das Rosas, Casa Guilherme de Almeida and Casa Mário de Andrade. He has published more than thirty books of poetry, essays, chronicles, novels and children’s books. His most recent books are the poetic chronicles LEQUE ABERTO (Guaratinguetá/SP: Penalux) and MANACÁ, from the same publisher. He writes for various magazines and newspapers such as Correio do Estado (MS), Jornal de Letras (RJ), Jornal Linguagem Viva (SP), Jornal da ANE (Brasília/DF), Jornal “O TREM” (MG). She belongs to the Academia Sul-Mato-Grossense de Letras, the Academia Cristã de Letras de São Paulo, the Academia de Letras do Brasil (Brasília), the Academia de Ciências e Letras de Lisboa and the PEN Clube do Brasil. He was awarded the Commander’s Degree of the Guaicurus Order of Judicial Labor Merit by the Regional Labor Court of the 24th Region – Mato Grosso do Sul.
