Teresa Cruz e Silva is Mozambican. She holds a PhD in Social History, a post-graduation in Development Studies, and graduate studies in History. Currently she is a retired Full Professor from Eduardo Mondlane University, although active in a part-time basis at the African Studies Centre in the same university, which she has served in several other capacities, since 1976. Member for life of CODESRIA- Council for Development of Social Sciences in Africa, who served as a member of the executive committee and President. Her research interests are: Contemporary Social History in Mozambique and Southern Africa; liberation movements and nationalism in Mozambique; social networks, religion and society; youth and social identities, human rights, women and extractive industry. She is a member of different editorial and scientific councils of national and international journals.
