Mário Figueiredo holds a PhD and the “Agregado” title in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, where he is a Full Professor; he holds the title of Distinguished Professor of IST and holds the Feedzai Chair in Machine Learning. He is a researcher and group leader at Instituto de Telecomunicações. He has received several awards and honors: Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Fellow of the International Association for Pattern Recognition, Fellow of the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP), Fellow of the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems, EURASIP Technical Achievement Award, IEEE W. R. G. Baker Award. He is a member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences.
