Profile

António Braz Teixeira (1936) holds a degree in Law and an Honorary Doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Lisbon. He has taught at several higher education institutions, including the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, the University of Évora, the Catholic University of Portugal, the Autonoma University of Lisbon and the Lusófona University. He is a member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences, the Scientific Society of the Portuguese Catholic University, the Portuguese Academy of History, the Brazilian Academy of Letters and the Brazilian Academy of Philosophy. Secretary of State for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (1980); Secretary of State for Culture (1981); Director of the D. Maria II National Theatre (1982-1985); Vice-President of RTP (1985-1992); President of IN-CM (1992-2008). He is currently President of the Board of the Institute of Luso-Brazilian Philosophy.
