Profile

Luís Filipe Antunes is a Full Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP). He completed his PhD in Computer Science in 2006 at the University of Porto with an extended stay at the Centre for Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science, under the supervision of Lance Fortnow. He carried out post-doctoral work at the Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica in Amsterdam.
Member of the General Council of the University of Porto (2017 – ) and Vice-President of the Council of Representatives of FCUP (2018 – ). Director of the Cybersecurity and Privacy Competence Centre at the University of Porto (2013 – ).
Portuguese representative on the Committee on Digital Economy Policy, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
He was awarded the ‘João Cordeiro Prize – Innovation in Pharmacy’ in 2014 and the first edition of the ‘Distinction in Innovation in Science and Technology’ prize awarded by the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto and was elected a corresponding member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences in 2022.
He carries out research in the area of computer security, privacy and data protection. He regularly collaborates with the National Security Office, the National Data Protection Commission and the Attorney General’s Office in the area of cybercrime.
Founding partner of three companies HealthySystems (www.hltsys.pt), Adyta (www.adyta.pt) and TekPrivacy (www.tekprivacy.pt) spin-offs from the University of Porto.
