Profile
With a degree from the University of Coimbra, a master’s from the University of Porto, and a PhD from Cornell University, he is the President of the School of Economics and Management at the University of Minho (EEG), where he primarily teaches Macroeconomics and Quantitative Methods and has held various leadership positions.
He is the author of dozens of scientific articles, as well as one book and co-author of two others. His research covers business cycles, political economy, and the application of wavelets to economics, among other topics. In 2011, he was awarded the Gulbenkian Prize for the Internationalisation of Social Sciences.
He is a regular media contributor, currently a columnist for Expresso. In the past, he has written for Observador, Público, and Rádio Renascença.
