Profile

Maria Manuela Tavares Ribeiro is a Retired Full Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra. Researcher at the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Coimbra – CEIS20 (1998-2023), Scientific Coordinator (2007-2011) and Coordinator of the Europeísmo, Atlanticidade e Mundialização Research Group (1998-2018).

Full Member of the Portuguese Academy of History (chair number 1), Member of the International Academy of Portuguese Culture, Correspondent Member of the Academy of Sciences of Lisbon, Member of the International Commission for the History of Representative Parliamentary Institutions (ICHRPI) and several Scientific Commissions of national and foreign research centers, namely the Master in European Studies, in collaboration with sixteen european universities.

Coordinated the collections Estudos sobre a Europa, História Contemporânea and Debater a Europa. Was Chief Editor of the journal Estudos do Século XX (CEIS20).

Visiting professor in seminars, conferences, internships, master’s degrees, doctorates and post-doctorates at portuguese and foreign universities.
Author of books, book chapters and articles internationally published in journals which are indexed in reputed databases. Member of the Editorial and Writing Board, of the Scientific and Consulting Committee of national and foreign journals.

Researching in the areas of contemporary history, european studies, history of parliaments, history of ideas, cultural history – XIX-XXI centuries.
