Graduated in History (Facudade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa, 1980). PhD in Medieval History (Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa- FCSH-UNL, 1995). Member of the Instituto de Estudos Medievais (IEM) at FCSH-UNL. Coordinater of the Master in History at FCSH-UNL (2009-2017). President of the IEM (2006-2008) and director of the online journal Medievalista (2007-2008; 2015-2020).
