Ana Monteiro is full Professor at the Department of Geography of the University of Porto (UP), and member of the Geography and Spatial Planning Studies (CEGOT) and nominated membro correspondente of the Academica de Ciências de Lisboa. She has a degree in geography by UP, a postgraduate degree in EIA by University of Aberdeen (UK) and in physical geography by UP, a PhD and Agregação in Physical Geography (urban climatology) by UP. She is a National Defence Auditor since 2000.She was Dean and Vice-dean of FLUP, national representative in several Cost Action and evaluator at 7FP and H2020, FCT and similar agencies abroad. She has been chair and member of A3ES. She has been invited professor at several national and foreign universities, coordinator and researcher in more than 30 national and international scientific research projects. She teaches and does research since 1983 in urban climatology, bioclimatology, agroclimatology, atmospheric pollution, urban planning, etc. seeking, whenever possible, to transfer the results of her research to society as expressed in more than 17 books and chapters of published books, more than 200 papers in national and international journals and proceedings. She (co)supervised more than 60 post-doctoral students, doctoral and master’s degrees at home and abroad. In the last years Ana Monteiro coordinated the Climate dimension of the Strategy Plan to Porto Metropolitan Area, the Porto Master Plan revision (urban climate, air, water, soil and noise dimension), the Porto Metropolitan Climate Risks Adaptation Plan, the Climate Zoning Plan of VNGaia, The Bioclimatic Comfort of road trees at Porto Plan and the Environmental Index Tool to Porto Master Plan.
