Arthur Lee-Francis is Professor Emeritus of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of California, Berkeley, and a researcher in the field of Medieval Peninsular Literature. He is a member of the Hispanic Society of America and the Portuguese Academy of History, and he was awarded the title of Commander of the Portuguese Order of Prince Henry the Navigator in 1986. His works include: The Cancioneiro de Évora: Critical Edition and Notes (1965); The Hispano-Portuguese Cancioneiro of the Hispanic Society of America (1974); and The Cancioneiro de Cristóvão Borges (1979). Medieval and Renaissance Spain and Portugal: Studies in Honor of Arthur F.-L. Askins (2006) was published in his honor.
