Ausenda Cáceres Balbino has a PhD in Paleontology from the University of Évora, in 1995. She is a Full Professor in the Geosciences Department of the School of Science and Technology at the University of Évora. Research areas: Vertebrate Paleontology, with an emphasis on Paleoichthyology (sharks and rays); History of Paleontology. She has supervised master’s, doctoral and post-doctoral students from Portugal and abroad. She is the author or co-author of more than one hundred publications (book chapters, articles in indexed journals and conference papers) in her scientific area. She has collaborated in teaching and research with institutions in Spain, France and Brazil. She was Pro-Rector and Vice-Rector at the University of Évora for 18 years.
