Profile

Dário Moura Vicente holds a PhD in Law from the University of Lisbon, where he also obtained his Aggregation in Legal Sciences.

Full Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, where he teaches Civil Law, Comparative Law, Private International Law and Intellectual Property Law.

He chaired the Institute for Legal Cooperation at the same Faculty between 2006 and 2020 and its Scientific Council between 2020 and 2022. Since 2023, he is President of its Private Law Research Centre.

Visiting professor at The Hague Academy of International Law, the University of Paris V, the Complutense University of Madrid and the University of Urbino.

In other Portuguese-speaking countries, he taught at the Agostinho Neto University in Angola; at the Universities of Brasília, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Santa Catarina and São Paulo in Brazil; the Institute of Legal and Social Sciences and the University of Mindelo in Cape Verde; the Salgãocar and Kare Colleges of Law in Goa; and the Eduardo Mondlane University in Mozambique. Adjunct Professor at the University of Macau.

President of the Hispano-Luso-American Institute of International Law; Vice-President of the Deutsch-Lusitanische Juristenvereinigung; Member of the Académie Internationale de Droit Comparé; Member of the International Law Association; and member of the Scientific Council and President of the General Assembly of the European Association of Private International Law. Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition.
