Writer, editor, jurist, and politician. Germano Almeida graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon (1977). Lawyer on the island of São Vicente, Cape Verde. He served as a member of the National Assembly and as Attorney General of the Republic of Cape Verde. Comendador of the Ordem do Mérito (1997) and Grande-Oficial of the Ordem do Infante D. Henrique (2019), he received the Camões Prize in 2018.

Among his published works are: O testamento do Sr. Napumoceno da Silva Araújo (1989), O Meu Poeta (1990), Os Dois Irmãos (1995), Cabo Verde: Viagem pela História das Ilhas (2003), A Morte do Ouvidor (2010), and Infortúnios de um Governador nos Trópicos (2023).
