Profile

She is a Professor at the Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics (UCP). For nearly 30 years, she conducted research at the Economic Studies Department of the Bank of Portugal, serving as its director for five years.

Her main research interests lie in Macroeconomics, particularly in the areas of business cycles, monetary economics, optimal fiscal and monetary policies and redistributive impacts of economic policy,

She has published in leading academic journals, including: American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Public Economics, and European Economic Review

She has served as a research project evaluator for the National Science Foundation (NSF) and participated in evaluation panels for Advanced Grants of the European Research Council.

Additionally, she has been a member of the board of the European Economic Association, the Scientific Society of the Portuguese Catholic University, the Scientific Advisory Committee of CREI – Centre de Recerca en Economia Internacional, and the Research Council of the European University Institute.
