Specialist in the History of the Book and Reading, Julián Martín Abad is the author of major inventories and bibliographic and biblio-iconographic catalogues, as well as studies on manuscripts, bibliophilia, and significant historical collections and archival holdings. He served as Director of the Servicio de Manuscritos, Incunables y Raros of the National Library of Spain.
