Profile

Marc Olivé earned his Ph.D. from the University of Barcelona (1972) and is an epigraphist and philologist. He has taught at the Universities of Murcia, Alicante, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and the University of Barcelona, where he coordinated the Department of Latin Philology.

He is a member of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans and the Reial Acadèmia de Bones Lletres (Barcelona), of the Deutsches Archäologisches Institut, the Association Internationale d’Études Classiques, and the Association Internationale d’Épigraphie Grecque et Latine. He holds an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Budapest.

He has published about 50 books and 400 scientific articles on epigraphy, Latin literature, and Roman history.
