Brazilian writer, journalist, and political commentator. Merval Pereira is an advisor at the Center for American Studies of Cândido Mendes University (Rio de Janeiro), a member of the Board of Visitors of the John S. Knight Fellowships at Stanford University and was a visiting professor at the Center for Brazilian Studies, Institute of Latin American Studies, Columbia University (2008). He is the current President of the Brazilian Academy of Letters (2022–).
