Mongi Bousnina studied at the École Normale Supérieure de Saint-Cloud and earned a Docteur d’État ès-Lettres et Sciences Humaines from the University of Paris-Sorbonne. He served as Secretary of State for Education (1990–1991) and Minister of Culture in the Tunisian Government (1991–1995). He was Ambassador of Tunisia in Rabat (1995–1996) and in Paris (1996–2001). He also served as Tunisia’s Permanent Delegate to UNESCO and as the representative of the President of the Tunisian Republic to the Conseil Permanent de la Francophonie in Paris (1996–2001). Since 2001, he has been Director-General of the Organisation Arabe pour l’Éducation, la Culture et les Sciences. Among his published works, Développement scolaire et disparités régionales en Tunisie (University of Tunis, 1991) stands out.
