Olivier Blanchard graduated in Economics from the University of Nanterre (1972) and earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology – MIT (1977). He is Robert M. Solow Professor Emeritus of Economics at MIT and has been teaching at the Paris School of Economics since 2023, focusing particularly on macroeconomics.
He taught at Harvard University (1977–1983), served as President of the American Economic Association (2018–2019), is a member of the American Academy of Sciences, and was an advisor to the International Monetary Fund between 2008 and 2015. Among his published works, the book Macroeconomics (1997) stands out.
