On 30 October 2026, a delegation comprising Professor Tan Tieniu, Chair of the Council of Nanjing University and former Vice-President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Lu Andong (Director of the Office of International Relations), Wang Xianyan (Director of the School of Geography and Ocean Sciences), Ye Bing (Director of the School of Life Sciences), Qi Lin (Director of the School of Arts) and Jin Yan (Deputy Director of the School of Energy and Resources), led by Professor Lu, visited the Academy of Sciences of Lisbon with the support of the Chinese Embassy in Lisbon. They were received by José Francisco Rodrigues and José Luís Cardoso, respectively President and Vice-President of the Academy, and by Miguel Miranda, Vice-President of the Science Section. Nanjing University expressed great interest in the Academy, as well as in the University of Lisbon, in various areas of science and heritage, where opportunities for future cooperation were identified.
