Rita Lobo Xavier is full Professor at the Portuguese Catholic University in Porto, Portugal, and she teaches Family Law, Civil Procedure Law and Inheritance Law.
She studied in the Faculty of Law – University of Coimbra (LL. B – 1985; Master of Law -1991; Ph.D – 1999). Aggregation (Catholic University of Coimbra – Portugal – 2016).
She has published several books, book chapters and law review articles on several topics, mainly on Family Patrimonial Law and on Inheritance Law, but also including ADR techniques, provisional measures, and Bioethics. She is member of the Católica Research Centre for the Future of Law. Her current line of research is Family business and succession planning.
Participation as local expert (Portugal) in the Women, Business and the Law Study of the World Bank Group on the access of women to property, institutions and justice (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024).
